Tribute to Henry Rousset
Henry Rousset suffered from schizophrenia. He wanted his legacy to support research on this disorder, which caused him immense pain and suffering, to contribute to a better understanding and to improve the diagnosis and care for patients. We would like to recognize his initiative. After his death, his brother, Patrice Rousset, gave us his autobiography. This invaluable testimony offers a precious view of this disease as seen "form the inside". "I would like my suffering, which were terrible, to be useful", wrote Henry Rousset. For his brother, so "humanely, Henry's life wa only a bitter failure. By looking higher, we see something else. When we tal about a "saint", we generally think of a person who is faultless in thought as well in their acts. A saint is, most simply, a man or a woman who we can cite as an example because his life was heroic. To me, Henry was that: a hero or more likely, a saint". We wish to pay tribute to his generosity.
