Developing Innovative Projects in Psychiatry
The Fondation FondaMental, in partnership with Laboratoire Lilly, awards research grants in psychiatry as part of its mission to support scientific research in mental health. The “Fondation FondaMental – Laboratoire Lilly Grants” programme aims to support research laboratories in recruiting Master’s students to develop innovative projects in psychiatry.
Applicants
This call for applications is open to research laboratories wishing to host a junior researcher (physician, biologist, psychologist, etc.) and proposing a research project in psychiatry במסגרת a Master’s (Master 2) internship.
- The applicant must be a member of the FondaMental Alliance (→ link to membership form)
- The applicant must be the supervisor responsible for overseeing the Master’s student
- The selection of the student is the sole responsibility of the host laboratory and is not required at the time of application
- Only one application per research project will be accepted
- Only one application per supervisor will be accepted
- This grant cannot be combined with funding for a research year

Research Topics
Research projects must focus on severe psychiatric disorders and address one of the following areas:
- Etiology and pathophysiology (mechanisms, biomarkers, vulnerability factors, etc.)
- Epidemiology and health economics
- Clinical and therapeutic innovation (diagnostic tools, medical devices, etc.)
Selection Process
Applications will be evaluated by a selection committee. Selection and prioritisation will be based on the following criteria:
- Scientific quality and level of innovation of the project
- Technical feasibility
- Quality of supervision
- Academic track record and publications of the supervisor
Taking into account the committee’s recommendations, the Fondation FondaMental’s Executive Committee will make the final funding decisions.
Funding
- The grant amounts to €4,000, covering a 6-month internship stipend
- Funding is paid to the host research institution
- Payment is made upon signature of a transfer agreement and receipt of the student’s CV, along with a declaration confirming full-time commitment to the research project
- Up to three grants are awarded each year.
Commitments
- A scientific report detailing the progress of the research and any resulting publications is required at the end of the internship
- Acknowledgement of support from the Fondation FondaMental and Laboratoire Lilly is mandatory in any publications resulting from the funded project
