Fondation FondaMental and Dassault Group Unveil Applications Opening for Marcel Dassault Prize for Innovation in Mental Disorders
Mental health disorders continue to pose a significant global challenge, impacting individuals, families, and communities. In response to this urgent need for innovation and progress in psychiatry, Fondation FondaMental and the Dassault Group proudly announce the opening of applications for the esteemed Marcel Dassault Prize for Innovation in Mental Disorders on May 6th, 2024.
Now in its eleventh year, the Marcel Dassault Prize aims to support entrepreneurial product innovation in the field of Mental Health and Mental Disorders, to attract new talents to the field of psychiatry and to contribute to the development of the PsyTech ecosystem. With mental illnesses ranking as the leading cause of disability worldwide, there is a pressing need to enhance the quality of life and prognosis for those affected.
The Marcel Dassault Prize for Innovation in Mental Disorders seeks to drive the development of new approaches, tools, and therapies for the prevention, diagnosis, and management of mental health disorders, and encourages applicants to propose innovative solutions across various domains, including:
- Management of mental disorders: medical technology, treatments, digital platforms
- Discovery of new diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers: blood biomarkers, brain imaging, algorithms, etc.
Application criteria
Applications are open to entrepreneurs, engineers, medical doctors and basic or clinical scientists who:
- have created or in the process of creating a start-up in the field of Mental Health
- have an idea or are in early-phase development of an innovation with clear marketing potential, including those adapted from another environment.
Applicants must submit their proposals by July 15th, 2024, at 3pm CET to be considered for the prize. The evaluation process will be conducted by both the International Scientific Advisory Board and the Executive Committee of Fondation FondaMental.
The recipient of the Marcel Dassault Prize for Innovation in Mental Disorders will receive an award of €90,000. In addition to the financial award, he or she will benefit from ongoing support from the multidisciplinary project development teams at the Fondation’s Lab’FondaMental, as well as communications assistance to amplify the project’s impact.

The winner of the Marcel Dassault Prize for Innovation in Mental Disorders will be officially announced during a press conference scheduled for December 2024 at the Dassault Group headquarters in Paris, which will provide a platform to celebrate the recipient’s achievements and engage with key stakeholders in the mental health community.
